Beach Bag Essentials

Summer is here! Of course now is the perfect time to go to the beach or the pool, and I wanted to share what I would put in my beach bag this season!

I recently found an amazing site called Naja, a great company for lingerie and swimwear! I love this brand because they not only sell cute and affordable items, but because they care about more than just their products. They employ single mothers, help women, and help the environment! Check out the website here:

Here’s my favorite swimsuit from Naja right now:

To go with this look, here is what is in my beach bag this season!

Over-all of it

I think I have always been afraid of wearing overalls. They either looked too country, too 90’s, (the bad side of the 90’s) or just not my style. I never thought I could pull them off! BUT things have changed. I was looking online, and all of a sudden I saw overalls in a new light. I don’t know what changed, but now I’m all, I could wear them with the right styling! They can fit into my wardrobe! Luckily, my sister found these for me and now I’m in love. I think my message as a blogger is that anyone can wear what they want as long as they wear it with confidence. And I definitely need confidence to pull off wearing overalls!

These are Mossimo, so they were pretty inexpensive! I paired them with a Forever 21 t-shirt and shoes. I love the detail of the collar and sleeves because it makes it not just a basic tee.

What do you think of denim overalls?

Backpack Style

So recently I’ve been obsessed with backpacks. Cross-body bags have been in style way too long! It’s time to switch it up, and the perfect time for that is summer. There’s something super laid-back about carrying a backpack, and it’s probably because it’s about 1000x easier to have one on all day than to hold an actual handbag. I’m all for low maintenance, effortless style, even if I sometimes don’t appear that way.

Here is some outfit inspiration including adorable backpacks!

I feel like backpacks can work with any style. There are so many different ones on the market now because people don’t just want them for school. They can be a cool statement!

I just bought this backpack from Asos and I’m obsessed with it. It’s NewLook.

What do you think about making a style statement with backpacks?

Denim on Denim

Happy Spring! I’m excited about the new trends coming up this season, and I have been working hard on my Youtube videos, so I hope you have been watching! A trend I love this season is wearing denim on denim. The spring is the most appropriate time to wear denim on denim because it looks the best! No more boots, and no more bulky coats and scarves! (If you even had a winter where you live.)

Anyway here are some of my favorite looks, these people have done denim right!

I wore denim on denim the other day, you should check out my Instagram! It’s on the sidebar. Here’s my look:

Fashion Savvy

So, it’s story time. About a year ago, I got a job at a major retail store. I’m not going to say where because I kept the job for about a month and quit over the phone. Yeah, I wasn’t too committed. There were a lot of other factors contributing to my quitting, trust me, and I’ve learned from that experience. I promise I’m not just lazy! Anyway, the way I got the job was because I walked into the store, mostly to shop, and asked if they were hiring. (I had just left an interview elsewhere that had gone horribly.) When the manager said they were hiring, she interviewed me on the spot. I felt so unprepared! She started asking me questions about their store, company, and retail in general. Without pausing I answered the questions. I remember a specific question she asked, “What trends are coming up for spring/summer?” And guess what? I knew the answer! She was so impressed that I was hired on the spot. Although this job didn’t last for me, it was a great experience that helped my confidence.

Being in tune with the fashion industry and what is going on in the fashion world can open up a lot of opportunities, especially if you want to work in that industry!

Here are some tips on what you can do to keep up with the ever changing fashion world.

1. Read magazines

Magazines are amazing because they not only tell you new trends, but they are also a great way to find out personal style. They are so visual! They also usually have articles about people working in the fashion world which can be inspiring.

2. Check out blogs!

Fashion bloggers usually post photos only of themselves, but let me tell you- they are ahead of the trends! Everything you see them wearing will make its way to the runways, or their style is straight off the runway. Here are some great bloggers. You’re welcome in advance!

These bloggers are my favorite!! A lot of them have Instagram and Youtube channels too so check them out on their websites!

3. Real life inspiration

Check out stores! Retail shops are the most relatable way of seeing what is on the runways and what is up and coming. The clothes in the stores are toned down versions of what is doing well in high fashion. Seeing styles in stores will keep you up to date on what is currently trending.

I hope my fashion success story has helped you discover what you can be doing to improve your fashion savviness.

Thrift Shopping

I haven’t actually blogged in forever. I know, it’s horrible – but I’ve been doing a lot of other good, productive things. Mostly I’m working on YouTube, and I’m loving it. I want to use this as my outlet for writing about fashion, and mentioning topics that are on my channel.

So this week I went thrift shopping. It was sort of a challenge for myself, I wanted to see if I could create cute outfits based off of thrifted pieces. I would consider it a success! The Goodwill I went to is amazing. It had so much stuff!

So here is what I ended up buying:

This blazer is a few sizes too big, and it had ridiculous shoulder pads, but I cut those out and am wearing it as an oversized, slouchy look with a romper.

The jumpsuit was thrifted, and I put it together with some clothes I already had to create a night out look. I felt very Miami.

This sweater is so comfortable! I threw it on with some skinny jeans and it looks way more expensive than the actual price.

This dress was only about $3, and it fits perfectly! I paired it with a shirt for a more grunge effect. I can’t wait to wear it in the summer too.

Hopefully this will inspire you to check out more thrift stores! Sometimes the best pieces are found there.

Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes

I spent my Sunday afternoon baking cupcakes for my favorite holiday, and it made me so happy. Baking is like my therapy, the perfect escape from reality for a few hours. Since Halloween is almost here, and since it’s Autumn, I thought I would make pumpkin cupcakes. I also decorated them with some cute Halloween theme decorations. They are so good!

I tweaked it a little, but I got the recipe from here, follow this link if you want to make these delicious cupcakes!

I have never baked anything with pumpkin in it, so I was interested to see how it would taste. These are some of the decorations I put aside for later.

The items in my kitchen just happened to perfectly match the theme of the day.

Once I had mixed all the ingredients it looked, smelled, and tasted so delicious already!

They were ready to go in the oven looking amazing… Also they made the house smell like Fall. Yum.

This is how they looked after baking. My only complaint is that they didn’t rise that much, but they were in higher cupcake cups than the usual ones, so it wasn’t too bad.

Time to decorate! The “too low” problem was easily fixable once I started adding frosting. To make the frosting look prettier I whipped it and then put it in a plastic bag. Once it’s in there, you can just cut one corner and it squeezes out perfectly.

I made some with faces made out of candy!

These ones I decorated with the sprinkles I bought.

I love how they turned out! They also tasted delicious, and I have 5 other people that can attest to that.🙂

The cupcake holders I used are from Mary & Martha, a direct sales company. My mom sells these items, and the bakeware is so cute. I used the line for my graduation party! If you’re interested, you can order them here:
