Halloween Pumpkin Cupcakes

I spent my Sunday afternoon baking cupcakes for my favorite holiday, and it made me so happy. Baking is like my therapy, the perfect escape from reality for a few hours. Since Halloween is almost here, and since it’s Autumn, I thought I would make pumpkin cupcakes. I also decorated them with some cute Halloween theme decorations. They are so good!

I tweaked it a little, but I got the recipe from here, follow this link if you want to make these delicious cupcakes! http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/11/16/favorite-pumpkin-cupcakes/

I have never baked anything with pumpkin in it, so I was interested to see how it would taste. These are some of the decorations I put aside for later.

The items in my kitchen just happened to perfectly match the theme of the day.

Once I had mixed all the ingredients it looked, smelled, and tasted so delicious already!

They were ready to go in the oven looking amazing… Also they made the house smell like Fall. Yum.

This is how they looked after baking. My only complaint is that they didn’t rise that much, but they were in higher cupcake cups than the usual ones, so it wasn’t too bad.

Time to decorate! The “too low” problem was easily fixable once I started adding frosting. To make the frosting look prettier I whipped it and then put it in a plastic bag. Once it’s in there, you can just cut one corner and it squeezes out perfectly.

I made some with faces made out of candy!

These ones I decorated with the sprinkles I bought.

I love how they turned out! They also tasted delicious, and I have 5 other people that can attest to that. 🙂

The cupcake holders I used are from Mary & Martha, a direct sales company. My mom sells these items, and the bakeware is so cute. I used the line for my graduation party! If you’re interested, you can order them here: http://www.mymaryandmartha.com/DENEEN/

What’s your favorite treat to make for Halloween?

A New Beginning…

Wow, I haven’t been on my blog in a long time. I don’t exactly know why I abandoned it… Maybe I got busy, perhaps I just lost interest. I feel like I’ve grown up a lot since I stopped writing on here, and my interests have especially changed. Instead of picking up where I left off, recapping my year, and having the same content, I am going to switch it up. I have started a YouTube channel all about fashion, life, and other fun things! My blog is going to have a lot to do with my channel now, so please go ahead and check it out- and subscribe!

Ellie Goulding Concert

Monday night was wonderful. I was front row at Ellie Goulding. Against the gate. With my best friends. Freaking out. I can’t even deal with how magical that night was. It was a general admission concert and I waited in line for 3 hours to be in the front. It was worth it! The show was so amazing and she stood 4 feet in front of me. And to top that day off, I found out Marina and the Diamonds is coming in May. I will-no, MUST meet her. That concert will probably be the most special thing of my life. BUT Ellie Goulding was amazing and I need to share her coolness with you.

That was the crowd behind me. I took all these pictures on my iphone. Best night ever!

New Year Resolutions

Happy 2013!!!! Sorry I haven’t been posting lately, I figured I would come back with a bang in 2013. And I am! Thanks so much to all my readers for keeping up with me last year! Since it is the new year I wanted to share my resolutions. I’ve always felt like resolutions are just empty promises you make to yourself that will never be fulfilled, so I like to think of them as “goals.” Somehow that makes me want to achieve them. So here’s my list of goals for 2013.

1. Get fit and healthy

2. Get into college! (I will be applying in the fall)

3. Get a good ACT score

4. Go to London

5. Work on this blog SUPER HARD

So those are mine! What are yours?

Music Monday: Metric

Metric is one of my favorite bands. They are from Canada, with their lead singer being Emily Haines. She is so awesome and has a great voice!

My favorite songs by them are:

Help I’m Alive

Gimme Sympathy

Gold Guns Girls

Sick Muse

Lost Kitten

Something interesting about them is that the song from Scott Pilgrim vs. The World that Envy Adams sings, Black Sheep, is their song. So technically Metric’s song is the “original version.”  They recorded it for the soundtrack, and I can’t decide which version I like better.

The acoustic versions of some of their songs are actually better than the original versions. That’s just in my opinion!

One of my favorite lines from their songs is in Gimme Sympathy. Who would you rather be, the Beatles or the Rolling Stones?

Aahhh they are such a good band! Go listen to them now!

Music News: Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey’s ep comes out tomorrow! I’m so excited for this, I love her. I can’t wait to hear these wonderful songs, I already love Ride, and the way she sings Blue Velvet is pure perfection. She’s amazing!
